First Day Results from Junior High Class A State Meet

There are new state track champs from our area after the first day of the State Class A Meet in East Peoria.

Reece Johnson of Neoga won the 7th grade boys 1600 meter run with a winning time of 4:49.41. That is a new record, snapping the old record of 4:51.38 set by Matt Feldhake of St. Anthony in 2003.

Gavin Hoene of Sigel St. Michael won the 7th grade boys pole vault, going 9'3". 

Claire Wilhour of Brownstown won the 8th grade girls 400 meter dash in 1:00.40. 

Rachel Jackman of Altamont won the 8th grade girls high jump at five feet.

The competition continues Saturday.
