Shoes Claim Six-Team Boys, Girls Track Meets

TEUTOPOLIS -- Teutopolis High School captured both a boys and a girls six-team track meet Thursday.

The Shoes won the boys meet with 168 points followed by Altamont 138, Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg 90, Patoka 66, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 55 and Brownstown/St. Elmo 9.

T-town captured six first place finishes. Mitch Hardiek was a winner in two of those events. He claimed the triple jump at 40 feet, 10 inches and won the high jump at 6-2.

Jason Kowalski was a winner in the pole vault at 10 feet, 6 inches. Scott Isley won the 800 in 2:06.79 minutes. Schumacher captured the 1600 in 5:12.19. The Shoes won the 400 relay in 47.5.

Altamont won the 800 relay in 9:03 minutes, the 800 in 1:38.86 and the 1600 in 3:40.15. Travis Whitt won the 300 hurdles in 46.13. Toby Slingerland claimed the 3200 with a time of 12:02.31. Nate Brown nabbed the discus with a throw of 134-4.

Windsor/Stew-Stras had one winner, Ballinger captured the long jump at 18-8.

In the girls meet, Teutopolis won with 234, Altamont 126, Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg 51, Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 44, Patoka 39 and Brownstown/St. Elmo 20.

The Wooden Shoes captured a whopping 13 first place finishes in the meet. The Shoes won the 3200 relay in 11:32.8 minutes, the 400 relay in 52.84 seconds, the 800 relay in 1:51.03 and the 1600 relay in 4:17.32.

Julia Hardiek and Anna Hartke claimed two victories each. Hardiek won the long jump at 15-1 and the 200 in 27.41. Hartke claimed the high jump at 5 feet, 3 inches and the 400 in 1:07.75.

Savannah Grimes was a winner in the triple jump with a leap of 31-5 1/2. Joelene Bueker claimed the pole vault at 8 feet, 6 inches. Nikki Wellbaum won the 100 in 13.35 while Kara Weichman claimed the 800 in 2:34.78. Shanna Niebrugge was a winner in the 1600 in 6:08.25.

Altamont had three victories and Hanna Wolff claimed two of those. Wolff won the shot with a throw of 31-10 1/2 and the discus at 98-5. Mckenzie Hoene won the 300 hurdles in 52.89.

Courtney Reel of Windsor/Stew-Stras, was a winner in the 3200 in 13:31.04.
