Milliking Track Teams Compete at GINA Relays

The Millikin University track and field team competed in the GINA Relays hosted by Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Michigan April 28-30.  The three-day event included teams from all NCAA and NAIA divisions.  No team scores were kept.

In the men’s competition, Millikin was second in 4x400 Meter Relay in 3:26.13 with Jordan McCall (Illiopolis, Sangamon Valley H.S.), Jacob Segrest (Brighton, Southwestern H.S.), J.C. Wagner (Joliet, Joliet Catholic H.S.), Timee McElroy (Mt. Zion, H.S.) running legs.  The Big Blue 4x100 Relay team was fifth in 44.01 seconds with McCall, R.J. O’Connor (Trinity, Florida, Gulf H.S.), Segrest and Christian Zenon (Lafayette, Louisiana, Lafayette Christian H.S.) running legs.

O’Connor was seventh in the 100 Meters Championship race in 11.11 seconds.

McCall was eighth in the 400 Meters Championship race in 50.41 seconds.

Segrest was eighth in the 100 Meters Open race in 11.13 seconds and 10th in the 200 Meters Open race in 22.40.  Both times were personal bests.

Jesse Blair was eighth in the Javelin with a throw of 46.28 meters (151-10).

In the women’s competition, Erin Owens (Bloomington, H.S.) was fifth in 100 Meters Open in 12.57 seconds.

Michaela Ponstein (Oswego, H.S.) was seventh in the 400 Meters Open race in 1:07.19.

Jamie Michl (Newton, H.S.) was 14th in the 800 Meters Championship race in 2:15.22.

Millikin’s 4x400 Relay was sixth in 4:03.60 with Erin Lukens (Johnston City, Herrin H.S.), Lorticia Lyles (Chicago, Powerhouse H.S.), Ponstein and Michl running legs

The Big Blue’s 4x100 Relay was eighth in 50.22 seconds with Ponstein, Lukens, Lyles and Owens running legs.

Next up for Millikin is the CCIW Championships on May 6-7.
