EHS Girls, T-town Boys Claim Triangular Track Meets

Effingham High School played host to Effingham St. Anthony and Teutopolis in boys and girls track action Tuesday.

The EHS girls captured its triangular with 80 points followed by Teutopolis 70 and St. Anthony 35.

The Hearts picked up nine victories. Riveria was a winner in two events. She claimed the 100 in 13.51 seconds and the 200 in 28.81. Other individuals winning were Myers in the shot with a throw of 32 feet, 5 inches, Taylor in the long jump at 15 1/4, Heuerman in the 100 hurdles in 17.08 and Phillips in the 800 in 2:35.37 minutes.

The Hearts won the 400 relay in 53.58, the 800 relay in 1:56.99 and the 1600 relay in 4:27.24.

The Wooden Shoes won five events. E. Buening was a winner in the discus with a throw of 108 feet, 2 inches. Grimes captured the triple jump at 31-6 1/2 while A. Hartke won the high jump at 5 feet. Mette claimed the 300 hurdles in 53.34. The Shoes also won the 3200 relay in 11:05.30.

St. Anthoy's Kristen Slaughter won the pole vault at 11 feet. She also claimed the 400 in 1:03.93 minutes. Zeller captured the 3200 in 13:00.98 while Weis was a winner in the 1600 in 5:35.50.

In the boys meet, Teutopolis won with 86 points followed by St. Anthony 53 and Effingham 44.

The Shoes captured 10 events. M. Hardiek won the triple jump at 36-8 1/2 and the high jump at 5-9. Blievernicht also nabbed two events taking the 110 hurdles in 16.04 and the 300 hurdles in 48.83. S. Isley won the 1600 in 5:07.31 and the 800 in 2:10.11.

Bushue was a winner in the long jump with a leap of 17-6. McWhorter nabbed the pole vault at 12 feet, 6 inches.

T-town also captured two relay events, the 3200 in 9:13.38 and the 800 in 1:40.67.

St. Anthony had four winners. Walk claimed the shot with a throw of 43-8 while Kinkelaar won the discus at 131-10. Nuxoll was a winner in the 100 in 12.07 and McKewski captured the 400 in 57.46.

The Hearts also claimed four first place finishes. EHS won the 400 relay in 47.3 and the 1600 relay in 3:55.42.

Miller was a winner in the 200 in 25.62 and Marschewski won the 3200 in 11:22.08.
