Sam Bennett Invitational Sees Records Set

Behind three wins by Tyra Buss, Mt. Carmel won the Sam Bennett Invitational Girls Track Meet Friday in Robinson.

Mt. Carmel won a close meet with 85 points, to 80 for second-place Teutopolis, 77-1/2 for third-place Neoga, and 72 points for fourth-place Newton.  Other results: Shelbyville 58, Cumberland 52-1/2, Olney 37, Red Hill 24, Marshall 18, Altamont 14, Robinson 9-1/2, St. Elmo/Brownstown 4, Paris 1-1/2, Lawrenceville 1.

Buss won 100 meter hurdles in 15.85, won the 800 in 2:22.32, and set a meet record in winning the 300 meter low hurdles in 45.44.

Discus Throw--Mary Grace Inyart of Olney in 111' 11"

High Jump--Anna Hartke of Teutopolis in 5' 5"
