Newton Second, T-town Fourth at Olney Boys Track Invitational

OLNEY -- Mattoon High School claimed the championship of the Olney Boys Track Inivtational Friday with 107 points. Newton took second with 90 followed by Robinson 87, Teutopolis 84, Salem 83, Charleston 63, Olney 38, Cisne 28, Casey-Westfield 26.5, Fairfield 26 and Mount Carmel 18.5.

The Eagles captured three relay events. Austin Angel, Gunner Pickens, Zack Lewis and Lucas Stone combined to win the 400 relay in 44.62 seconds. In the 1600 relay, the Eagles won in 3:32.0 minutes. Austin, Josph Stone, Lewis and L. Stone were team members. Then the Eagles claimed the 800 medley relay in 1:42.62 minutes. Team members were J. Stone, Kaleb Wittgan, Keith King and Daniel McCrillis.

The Eagles also claimed junior varsity relay wins in the 800 and 1600. In the 800, Mitch Bierman, Daniel McCrillis, Bryson Dhom and Colten Angel won in 1:39.82. In the 1600, McCrillis, Keith King, Drake Ochs and Michael Koebele won in 3:47.28.

Teutopolis was a winner in four events. The Shoes' Kyle Blievernicht crossed the finish line in the 400 with a time of 50.81 seconds. Riley Drees claimed the 300 hurdles in 40.62 seconds. Justin Hunt won the long jump with a leap of 20 feet, 4 inches. Blake Mette tied with Sam Green of Salem and Jacob Stephens of Mattoon for first in the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 10 inches.
