Altamont Claims Victories In Home Track Meets

Altamont captured both the boys and girls high school track meets Tuesday evening on its home track.

The Indians won the girls meet with 150 points followed by Patoka 108, Brownstown/St. Elmo 79, Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran 51, Stewardson-Strasburg 23 and Windsor 16.

Altamont claimed two field event first place finishes as J. Phillips won both the shot with a throw of 30 feet, 2 inches and the long jump at 14-8 1/2.

L. Goldstein also picked up two wins. Goldstein ran a 13.12 second 100 yard dash and took the 200 in 27.09. Hoene was a winner in the 100 hurdles in 17.33.

The Indians claimed the 1600 relay in 5:16.64 and the 3200 relay in 13:30.99.

Bone was a two event winner for Brownstown/St. Elmo. Bone won the high jump at 4-11 and the 400 in 1:06.09 minutes. Hill was the high point person in the meet with 26 points for the Bombers. She took first in the triple jump at 27-3 and first in the discus with a throw of 102-0. She also placed third in the long jump.

In the boys meet, Altamont was the winner with 188 points followed by Stewardson-Strasburg 98 1/2, Patoka 74, Brownstown/St. Elmo 48 1/2, Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran 45 and Windsor 18.

The Indians picked up points by winning two relay events. Altamont won the 3200 relay in 9:23.30 minutes and the 1600 relay in 3:51.73.

Whitt and Kuhns claimed two victories each. Whitt won the 110 hurdles in 19.86 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 49.10. Kuhns claiemd the 400 in 55.19 and the triple jump at 36 feet, 11 inches.

Also taking victories for the Indians were Durbin in the 800 in 2:15.81, E. Deadmond in the 3200 in 13:29.65 and Sharp in the 1600 in 4:59.90.

Stew-Stras' Fry was a double event winner. Fry claimed the shot with a throw of 50-11 1/2 and the discus at 162-3. Ballinger won the long jump at 17-9 and Kessler went 5-6 in the high jump.
