EHS, T-town Win By Same 6-3 Score In Tennis

Effingham claimed the top four spots in singles play and won two of the three doubles matches for a 6-3 victory over Salem in Apollo Conference tennis action Monday.

Emma Kull picked up the No. 1 singles victory 6-1, 6-3 while Kyra Bannister fought off her opponent at No. 2 to win 6-4, 3-6 (10-6). Megan Allen won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 3 and Tori Sims took the No. 4 spot, 6-4, 3-6 (10-7).

In doubles, Sims and Ashley Workman won the No. 2 spot, 6-3, 6-2. Allen and Savannah Blake took the third position in a tough match 6-7 (4-7), 6-4 (10-7).

At Effingham

No. 2 -- Sims-Workman (E) defeated Maynard-Barker (S), 6-3, 6-2

No. 3 -- Allen-Blake (E) defeated Geurin-Hofelich (S), 6-7 (4-7) 6-4 (10-7)

At Teutopolis

Teutopolis started off rough by losing the No. 1 and No. 2 singles spots but tallied the next four wins and took two doubles contests for a 6-3 victory over Mattoon.

Elena Breer won at No. 3 6-1, 6-3 while Kaitlin Deters took the No. 4 spot 6-0, 6-2. Ashley Hemmen won 6-2, 6-1 and Kara Schwinke rounded out the victories in singles 6-2, 7-5.

In doubles, Allison Vogt and Breer combined to win 1-6, 7-6, 10-7 at No. 1. Hemmen and Taylor Deters claimed the No. 3 spot 6-3, 6-4 to improve to 6-1 on the season.
