Local Players Set For State Tennis Tournament

A singles player and two doubles teams from Effingham High School and a singles player from Teutopolis and Effingham St. Anthony will be competing in the State Tennis Tournament which begins Thursday.

The Hearts have Aaron Meyers competing in singles. Meyers, a junior, will be taking on Jasper Koenen, a junior, from St. Charles East at Herscher High School.

St. Anthony's Cole Buehnerkemper, a senior, will face Justin Rumley, a junior, from Moline at Rolling Meadows High School.

T-town's Kyle Brumleve, a junior, faces Ben Fisch, also a junior, from Mount Prospect at Prospect High School.

In doubles action, Effingham has two teams competing. Juniors Isaac Foreman and Jason Wohltman will take on Will Lyon, a senior, and Michael Baddeloo, a junior, from Glenview Glenbrook South at Elk Grove High School.

Parth Maheshwari, a junior, and Jared Minor, a freshman will meet seniors Chandler Clayton and Nico Khazzam from Peoria (Richwoods) at Palatine High School.

The tournament continues Friday and finishes out Saturday with final round action.
