EHS Takes Third, St. Anthony Sixth, T-town Seventh at Doubles Invitational

Effingham tied for third place while Effingham St. Anthony took sixth and Teutopolis seventh at the Champaign Tennis Doubles Invitational Saturday.

Champaign Centennial won the meet with 32 points followed by Alton 24, Effingham 15.5, O'Fallon 15.5, Centralia 14, St. Anthony 13.5, Teutopolis 13, Mattoon 12.5, Urbana Uni High 12, Normal West 8, Charleston 7.5, Olney 7, Pekin 5, Bloomington Central Catholic 4, Centennial White 1 and Robinson 0.

Three Hearts doubles team finished in fifth place ties and those included Parth Maheshwari/Jared Minor at No. 2, Wyatt Wohltman/Aaron Meyers at No. 3 and Nick Pellman/Caleb Gadberry at No. 4.

St. Anthony's Cole Buehnerkemper/Frank Jansen took third at No. 1 doubles while Scott Rentfrow/Jay Nienbrugge finished fifth at No. 2.

T-town's Matt Grunloh/Mitch Meinhart finished fourth at No. 3 doubles while Karson Pruemer/Jay Funneman claimed fourth at No. 4.

"The guys all played really well," said T-town Coach Kaye Kimpling. "I was pleased we had two fourth place finishes. I think this team has improved all season and they always outplay my expectations for them. They are a pleasure to coach."
