EHS, Teutopolis Claim 8-1 Tennis Wins

Effingham High School pushed its tennis record to 5-0 with an 8-1 win over Robinson Monday evening.

The Hearts took No. 2 through No. 6 in singles wins. Isaac Foreman, Wyatt Wohltman, Parth  Maheshwari, Jason Wohltman and Nick Pellman were winners.

In doubles action, the Hearts swept. Maheshwari and Jared Minor won 6-4, 6-4 before Meyers and W. Wohltman went out at 6-1, 6-4. Caleb Gadberry and Jeff Keitel were winners at No. 3, 6-4, 7-5.

At Effingham

No. 1 -- Brennan Buchanon (R) defeated Aaron Meyers (E), 6-2, 6-2

No. 2 -- Isaac Foreman (E) defeated Curtis White (R), 6-2, 6-0

No. 3 -- Wyatt Wohltman (E) defeated Dylan White (R), 6-2, 6-2

No. 4 -- Parth Maheshwari (E) defeated Nick  Sandschafer (R), 6-1, 6-2

At Mount Zion

Teutopolis improved its record to 6-0 with an 8-1 victory over Mount Zion.

In singles action, the Wooden Shoes swept as Kyle Brumleve, Ryan Westendorf, Matt Grunloh, Andy Mersman, Mitch Meinhart and Karson Pruemer claimed victories.

In doubles play, Brumleve and Westendorf combined at No. 1 to win 6-2, 7-5 while Mersman and Keith Weber won at No. 2, 6-2, 6-3.

At Mount Zion

At Teutopolis

In junior varsity action, Edwardsville came calling and downed the Wooden Shoes 8-1. Edwardsville won No. 1 through No. 5 in singles and all three doubles.

The lone T-town victory was at No. 6 where Jacob Mette defeated Nick Meyers, 4-6, 7-6, 6-3.

 

At Newton

Charleston defeated Newton 5-2 to improve its record to 6-0 on the season.

Newton picked up the two points in doubles action. Noah Dart and Phil Blank won at No. 1, 6-1, 0-6, 7-6 (5) while Lane Snyder and Lane Simpson were winners at No. 2, 6-2, 6-4.
