Wooden Shoes Take Tennis Win, Hearts Fall

TEUTOPOLIS -- Teutopolis High School swept another opponent to the side in high school tennis. Thursday it was Newton by a 9-0 count.

Macy Probst and Grace Hoene were 6-0, 6-0 winners at the top two singles spots for the Shoes.

Carley Habing went 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 while Kenna Koester won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 4.

Taking the No. 5 position was Olivia Hemmen by 6-2, 6-2 scores. Grace Schumacher had the toughest time before pulling out a win. She won the opening set 7-6 (0), then fell in the second contest to Jean Lin of Newton, 6-2 before coming back for the 10-8 win and the match.

In doubles play, Probst and Isabelle Hemmen were winners, 6-0, 6-0.

Koester combined with Lexi Will for a 6-4, 6-3 victory.

The final doubles match went to Habing and Molly Niemerg, 6-0, 6-3.

At Teutopolis

No. 3 -- Habing-Molly Niemerg (TT) defeated Olmstead-Emily Probst (N), 6-0, 6-3

 

At Robinson

Robinson played host to Effingham in high school tennis play Thursday and was a 7-2 winner.

The Maroons tallied six straight singles wins.

Effingham came back to pick up two of the three doubles matches.

Riley Arend and Madison Mapes combined at No. 2 to win, 6-3, 6-3.

In the No. 3 spot, Aila Woomer and Gracie Kroenlein claimed 7-5, 6-4 wins.
