SHELBYVILLE -- Effingham High School blanked Shelbyville 9-0 in tennis competition Wednesday.

The Hearts swept through singles play easily. Riley Arend went 6-4, 6-1 at the No. 1 singles spot. Eden Wendling and Lydia Kull were 6-2, 6-0 winners at No. 2 and No. 3. Aila Woomer and Gracie Kroenlein blanked their opponents at No. 4 and No. 5, 6-0, 6-0. Madison Mapes finished out with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 6.

In doubles play, all three matches were 6-0, 6-0 scores. Wendling and Kull combined at No. 1 while Arend and Mapes took the No. 2 spot. Kroenlein and Woomer won at No. 3.
