Wooden Shoes Down Bulldogs In Tennis

TEUTOPOLIS -- Teutopolis High School handily downed Effingham St. Anthony, 8-1 in tennis competition Tuesday.

The lone point for the Bulldogs came at the No. 1 singles spot as Allison Kowalke won. Macy Probst took the opener 6-4 but Kowalke came back with 6-4, 11-9 scores for the win.

T-town then swept through the rest of the singles. Grace Hoene was a 6-3, 6-1 winner at No. 2 while Isabelle Hemmen claimed the No. 3 spot, 6-1, no other score reported.

Carley Habing was a 6-1, 6-3 winner at No. 4. Lexi Will had to fight for the No. 5 spot. She won the opening set 6-1 but Laura Schmidt came back to take the second set 6-4. Will then won the match 10-6.

Olivia Hemmen went 6-0, 6-2 at No. 6.

In doubles, the Wooden Shoes swept. Probst and I. Hemmen were 6-1, 3-6, 10-8 winners at No. 1. Will and Kenna Koester took No. 2 spot, 6-2, 6-2. Hoene and O. Hemmen won 6-4, 6-3.
