St. Anthony, T-town Pick Up Tennis Wins

Effingham St. Anthony handed Champaign St. Thomas More an 8-1 loss in high school tennis action Tuesday.

The Bulldogs swept the doubles competition. Allison Kowalke and Caroline McDevitt combined to win 6-1, 6-3. The No. 2 spot was closer as Peyton Sehy and Grace Karolewicz lost their opener 6-3 but came back with a 6-4, 10-5 wins for the match. Emily Kowalke and Ali Adams combined to win 6-1, 6-2.

In singles play, A. Kowalke won 6-4, 6-4 while E. Kowalke went 6-3, 6-2. McDevitt won 6-4, 6-3 and Adams claimed her match 6-1, 7-6 (4). Laura Schmidt finished out at No. 5 winning 6-1, 6-1.

At Champaign

Teutopolis blanked Robinson, 9-0 in competition Tuesday.

Winning in singles, Macy Probst claimed the top spot, 6-3, 6-3. Grace Hoene took No. 2. She lost the opener 6-3 then came back with a 7-6 (1) win and claimed the match 10-8.

Isabelle Hemmen was a 6-2, 6-0 winner while Carley Habing won 6-4, 6-0.

Lexi Will went out at 6-3, 6-1 while Olivia Hemmen took the final singles spot, 6-1 6-0.

In doubles action, Probst and I. Hemmen were 6-1, 6-1 winners at No. 1 while Kenna Koester and Will took the No. 2 spot, 6-3, 6-2. Hoene and O. Hemmen were 6-0, 6-2 winners at No. 3.
