Hearts Down Mount Zion In Tennis

 With five singles and two doubles victories, Effingham High School downed Mount Zion, 7-2 in girls tennis competition Monday.

The Hearts' Riley Arend took the No. 1 singles spot, 6-4, 6-3 then combined with Madison Mapes to nab the No. 2 doubles win, 6-3, 6-1.

Eden Wendling won the No. 2 spot for the Hearts, 6-4, 7-5 while Lydia Kull took No. 3, 6-1, 6-1.

Gracie Kroenlein was the winner at No. 5, 6-3, 6-1 and Mapes was the No. 6 winner, 6-2, 6-1.

Woomer combined with Kroenlein to pick up the No. 3 doubles victory, 6-0, 6-2.

No. 5 -- Gracie Kroenlein (E) defeated Kyla Schnippel (MZ), 6-3, 6-1

No. 6 -- Madison Mapes (E) defeated Peyton Schroeder (MZ), 6-2, 6-1

Doubles

No. 1 -- Al. Bradford-Au. Bradford (MZ) defeat Wendling-Kull (E), 6-2, 7-6 (4)

No. 2 -- Arend-Mapes (E) defeated Mallory-Brunner (MZ), 6-3, 6-1

No. 3 -- Woomer-Kroenlein (E) defeated Schnippel-Schroeder (MZ), 6-0, 6-2
