Effingham High School swept Apollo Conference opponent Charleston, 9-0 Tuesday in tennis action.

The Hearts honored the one senior on the team, Riley Arend.

"The girls played very well and showed improvement from their previous match against Mattoon," said EHS Coach Erik Williamsom.

Arend took the No. 1 singles spot by 6-3, 6-0 counts. Arend also teamed with Madison Mapes at the No. 2 doubles spot to win, 6-0, 6-2. Mapes was a winner at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-1

Eden Wendling won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2 singles and won with teammate Lydia Kull at No. 1 doubles, 6-0, 6-1. Kull was a winner 6-1, 7-5 at the No. 3  singles.

Aila Woomer won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 4 singles while Gracie Kroenlein took the No. 5 spot, 6-0, 6-0. The pair combined to win at No. 3 doubles, 6-0, 6-0.

No. 1 -- Kull-Wendling (E) defeated Goetten-Larson (C), 6-0, 6-1

No. 2 -- Arend-Mapes (E) defeated Amaya-Long (C), 6-0, 6-2

No. 3 -- Woomer-Kroenlein (E) defeated Mayhall-Clara Cox (C), 6-0, 6-0
