Serena Williams’ coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, said Saturday that he's starting an independent tennis league to have professionals play matches without spectators amid the pandemic starting in May at his academy in France, calling it the Ultimate Tennis Showdown.

Mouratoglou plans to live-stream 10 matches per weekend for five weekends in May and June. It's kicking off May 16, with 10th-ranked David Goffin of Belgium to face 103rd-ranked Alexei Popyrin of Australia.
