Wooden Shoes Take Sixth In Tennis Invitational

METAMORA -- Teutopolis High School competed in the Tom Pitchford Boys Tennis Invitational Friday and Saturday. Each year the Pitchford is an invite-only tennis tournament where the top-ranked teams in the state are invited to compete.

The Wooden Shoes finished sixth out of 12 teams. Normal U-High won with 60 points followed by Dunlap 40, Chicago Northside 32,  Metamora 24, Urbana University 21, Teutopolis 18, Morton 15, Peoria Richwoods 15, Washington 14, Mount Zion 11, Troy Triad 9 and Chicago University 5.

Kyele Mossman competed at the No. a singles spot where he fnished with a 3-1 record and claimed first place. He won against Washington High, 6-0, 6-1, downed Dunlap High, 6-1, 6-2 and defeated Chicago Northside, 6-4, 6-2.

The No. 2 doubles also finished with a 3-1 mark. Mitchel Deters and Alex Deters lost their opener then came back to beat at pair from Washignton High, 6-1, 6-0, Mount Zion 9-8 and Chicago Northside 8-1.
