Shoes Blank Charleston in Tennis

CHARLESTON -- Teutopolis High School blanked Charleston 8-0 to win its season opening dual tennis match Monday.

The Wooden Shoes' Diana Mossman claimed the No. 1 singles spot while Julia Hardiek won at No. 3 and Macy Probst at No. 5, all by 10-1 counts. Alli Brumleve won at No. 2 with a 10-2 score, Nicole Deters won at No. 4, 10-6 and Logan Blankenship downed her opponent at No. 6, 10-0.

In doubles play, Brumleve and Probst combined to win 8-3 at No. 1 while Blankenship and Elizabeth Will took No. 3, 8-4. Deters and Isabell Hemmen were competing at No. 2 but rain moved in to cancel the contest.

"It was a good start to our season," said T-town Coach Kaye Kimpling.

No. 5 -- Macy Probst (TT) defeated Evie Rudibaugh (C), 10-1

No. 6 -- Logan Blankenship (TT) defeated Maleah Hacket (C), 10-0

Doubles

No. 1 -- Brumleve-Probst (TT) defeated Thompson-Jackson (C), 8-3

No. 2 -- Deters-Isabell Hemmen (TT), match rained out

No. 3 -- Blankenship-Elizabeth Will (TT) defeated Sibennaller-Hacket (C), 8-4
