Bulldogs, Shoes 9-0 Winners, EHS Suffers Tennis Loss

GREENVILLE -- Effingham St. Anthony High School blanked host Greenville 9-0 in tennis action Monday.

The Bulldogs had an easy match as Emilee Mossman, Claire Wortman, Catherine Willenborg and Megan Hodge all won by 6-0, 6-0 counts. Allison Kowalke took the No. 3 spot, 6-0, 6-1 while Averee Greene was a 6-1, 6-3 winner.

In doubles play, Wortman and Kowalke went 6-0, 6-2 to win. Hodge and Maryann Saba won 6-2, 6-0. Madison McWhorter and Allie Dasenbrock won 6-2, 6-2.

"The girls played well," said St. Anthony Coach Darlene Esker. "Tomorrow St. Thomas More comes to play with the match at 4:30."

St. Anthony also nabbed the junior varsity contest 4-1.

At Greenville

At Mount Zion

Effingham fell to Mount Zion 6-3 in tennis action Monday.

The Hearts claimed two singles matches as Taylor Boyle was a 7-5, 6-1 winner while Riley Arend nabbed the win 0-6, 6-3, 10-6.

In doubles play, Effingham took the top spot. Chloe Funneman and Lauryn Douthit were 10-2 winners.

At Mount Zion

At Shelbyville

Teutopolis High School traveled to Shelbyville and handed the Rams a 9-0 defeat Monday.

Julia Hardiek went out at 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1. Lauren Hemmen and Nicole Deters were both 6-0, 6-0 winners. Alli Brumleve took the No. 3 spot 6-1, 6-2 while Diana Mossman was a 6-1, 6-1 winner. Elizabeth Will finished it out at No. 6 with a 6-2, 6-0 victory.

In doubles play, Hemmen and Brumleve combined to blank their opponents 6-0, 6-0. Mossman and Deters went 6-0, 6-1 while Will and Hardiek turned that score around and won 6-1, 6-0.

T-town is now a perfect 8-0 on the season.

At Shelbyville
