Mattoon Edges EHS In Tennis Action

Mattoon High School edged Effingham 5-4 in tennis competition Wednesday.

The Green Wave captured the top four singles. Effingham's Parker Siner won at No. 5, 6-2, 6-0 while Ben Donsbach claimed the victory at No. 6, 6-3, 6-3.

Mattoon took the No. 1 doubles spot. The Hearts' Siner and Donsbach won at No. 2, 6-4, 6-3 while Nick Beck and Nate Linders won at No. 3, 6-4, 6-4.

The Hearts drop to 0-3 on the season.

At Effingham

No. 1 -- Quinn Camfield (M) defeated Alessandro Boca (E), 6-1, 6-4

No. 2 -- Reese Bergstrom (M) defeated Matt Linders (E), 6-1, 6-3

No. 3 -- Lance Warfel (M) defeated Nick Katz (E), 7-5, 6-2

No. 4 -- Reese Jones (M) defeated Nate Linders (E), 6-1, 6-4

No. 5 -- Parker Siner (E) defeated Caleb Borntrager (M), 6-2, 6-0

No. 6 -- Ben Donsbach (E) defeated Matt Kaiser (M), 6-3, 6-3

Doubles

No. 1 -- Camfield-Bergstrom (M) defeated Katz-M. Linders (E), 6-4, 6-0
