All Area Players Eliminated at State Girls Tournament

All area players have been eliminated at the state girls tennis tournament in Chicagoland.

Here's the breakdown:

Teutopolis singles player Alli Brumleve lost her first round match 3-6, 6-3, 2-6. She won her first round consolation match 6-1, 6-4, but lost her second round consolation match 2-6, 2-6 to end her play.

Teutopolis doubles team Christa Schwinke and Audra Breer won their first round match 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, but lost their second round match 4-6, 4-6 and then lost their consolation round match 3-6, 2-6 to end their play.

Teutopolis doubles team Sidney Brumleve and Lauren Hemmen had a good run. They won their first round match 6-4, 6-4 and then won their second round match 6-2, 3-6, 6-4. After a 5-7, 1-6 loss, Brumleve and Hemmen rebounded to win in the consolation bracket 6-3, 6-1, but then lost 4-6, 2-6 to end their play with a 3-2 record and five points.

St. Anthony singles player Emilie Mossman won her first round match 6-4, 6-2 but then lost her second round match 0-6, 1-6. She bounced back to win consolation round matches 6-1, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-1 before losing 4-6, 2-6 to end her play 3-2. 

St. Anthony doubles team Kelly Rentfrow and Claire Wortman won their first two matches, 6-2, 6-2 and 6-0, 6-3 before losing 2-6, 1-6. They came back to win 7-6 (2), 2-6, 10-7 but they then lost 4-6, 3-6 to finish 3-2 for the tournament.

Newton's Jacelyn Street also competed; the first Newton player to compete at State. Street won her first round match 6-2, 6-3 but then lost 1-6, 1-6. She bounced back to win 6-1, 6-2 but then lost 4-6, 1-6 to end her play at State.
