Effingham's Lauren Hoekstra won one match and lost another Friday at the Girls State Tennis Tournament, ending her participation after playing five matches.

Lauren had won, lost and won Thursday.  EHS Coach Angela Woods said Hoekstra dealt with hours of rain delays and location changes before taking to the court Friday to finish up a match started Thursday.  Up one set, Hoekstra easily finished off Deerfield's Ariel Lozovsky 6-2, 6-2.  She then played Nicole Tyulpa from Rock Island and fell 6-1, 6-4.

Woods said, "Lauren's high school tennis came to a close and she can be proud of how well she did.  We wish her a very successful college experience at Southern Illinois University."

Hoekstra, the daughter of Terry and Lisa Hoekstra, played at State all four years of her high school career.
