NEWTON -- Effingham High School picked up a 6-1 victory over Newton in tennis action Tuesday.

The Hearts swept through the four singles matches that were contested. Aaron Conley won at No. 1, 6-0, 6-2 while Ashton Haythorne took the No. 2 spot, 6-3, 6-7 10-6 (tie). Kaleb Blake won 6-3, 6-1 and Nick Beck claimed a 2-6, 6-3 14-12 (tie) victory.

In doubles play, Jared Minor and Drake Hill captured the top spot, 6-0, 6-0. Matt Linders and Nick Katz won at No. 2, 6-4, 6-1.

Newton's lone point came at No. 3 as Stephens and Luaingston won 6-4, 0-6, 10-8 (tie).
