St. Anthony Edges Charleston in Tennis

Effingham St. Anthony played host to Charleston in tennis competition Tuesday and edged the Trojans 5-4.

Jay Niebrugge started things off right for the Bulldogs with a 6-0, 6-0 win at the No. 1 singles spot. Chris Jones followed with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2.

Charleston claimed the next two matches before Chandler Martelli won at No. 5, 6-3, 6-1. The Trojans then tied it at 3-3 with a win at No. 6.

In doubles play, Niebrugge and Jones combined to win 6-0, 6-2. Charleston won the match at No. 2 before Ian Harris and Liam Hammer combined to win 6-1, 6-4 to claim the match.

St. Anthony is now 4-1 on the season.
