EHS Finishes 13th at Triad Tennis Invitational

TROY -- Effingham High School competed in the Troy Triad Tennis Invitational Saturday and finished 13th overall.

"A lot of our younger players had the opportunity to play up and they jumped at it. Lots of good games and good competition. I could not be more proud of our team." said EHS Coach Lee Althoff.

Troy Triad varsity edged the Hearts in the opening match, 3-2. Wins for the Hearts came from Jared Minor in singles play 7-6, 6-2 and Aaron Conley 6-3, 6-1.

Jerseyville then claimed a 3-2 win over the Hearts. Conley claimed a singles victory while Noah Mulheron and Danny Hortenstein won in doubles play, 6-3, 6-3.

EHS then defeated Troy Triad junior varsity 4-1. Wins came from Conley and Cole Stanfield in singles play and Drake Hill-Jared Minor at No. 1 doubles and Nick Katz-Ashton Haythorn at No. 2 doubles.

EHS then downed O'Fallon JV 4-1. Conley won at the top singles spot. In doubles, EHS swept as Hill-Minor blanked their opponents 6-0, 6-0. Katz and Haythorn claimed the second match 6-1, 6-4 while Mulheron and Danny Hortenstein won 7-6, 6-1.
