EHS Fourth At Apollo Conference Tennis Tournament

CHARLESTON -- Effingham High School finished fourth in the Apollo Conference Tennis Tournament Friday and Saturday.

"We were delayed two hours Saturday morning due to rain," said EHS Coach Erik Williamson. "We entered two doubles team and two singles players. The team of Emma Kull and Megan Allen were the second seed in doubles and the team of Lauryn Douthit and Chloce Funneman were the fifth seed."

Kull and Allen finished in fourth place in the No. 1 doubles. Douthit and Funneman finished in fifth place at No. 2 doubles.

In singles, Kyra Bannister and Skyler Schafer both competed but did not place.

Mattoon won the team title with 24 points followed by Charleston 21, Mount Zion 13, Effingham 12 and Salem 6.

EHS has a home match Tuesday against Greenville and are home against Thursday against Robinson for Senior Night festivities. The Hearts travel to Flora for the last regular season contest October 13 before hosting the sectional tournament October 16-17.
