Bulldogs, Hearts, Shoes Win In Tennis

PARIS -- Effingham St. Anthony High School traveled to Paris and blanked the Tigers 9-0 in tennis action Tuesday.

Claire Wortman and Taylor Evans claimed 6-2, 6-0 victories. Kelly Rentfrow won 6-1, 6-1. Megan Hodge and Madison McWhorter were 6-2, 6-1 winners. Maryann Saba claimed 6-0, 6-1 wins.

In doubles play, Rentfrow and Wegman won 6-2, 6-2 while McWhorter and Saba claimed 6-1, 6-2 victories. Makenzie Koenig and Evi Malone took the No. 3 spot, 6-1, 6-1.

In junior varsity action, the Bulldogs won 7-1.

At Paris

At Effingham

The Hearts lost at the No. 1 singles spot and at the No. 1 doubles spot but took the other victories for a 7-2 win over Vandalia Tuesday.

In singles play, Chloe Funneman won 6-0, 6-1 while Bannister claimed 6-0, 6-2 victories. Megan Allen, Lauryn Douthit and Skyler Schafer blanked their opponents 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles play, Funneman and Douthit combined to win 6-0, 6-0 while Miranda Johnson and Mallory Logan took the final spot 6-2, 6-0.

At Effingham

Teutopolis improved to a perfect 5-0 on the season with an 8-1 victory over Salem.

Salem won the No. 1 singles spot before the Wooden Shoes swept the rest of the way. Christa Schwinke claimed a 6-1, 6-3 win while Lauren Hemmen won 6-1, 6-1. Audra Breer, Molly Smith and Julia Hardiek blanked their opponents 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles play, T-town swept. Kaitlin Deters and Schwinke combined for 6-1, 6-1 wins. Hemmen and Smith won 6-1, 6-0. Hardiek and Nicole Deters blanked their opponents, 6-0, 6-0.

At Salem
