T-town Third At Mt. Vernon, St. A Competes At Centennial Invite

MOUNT VERNON -- Teutopolis High School captured third place in the Mount Vernon Doubles Tennis Tournament Saturday.

Mount Vernon won with 148 points followed by Marion 98, Teutopolis 85, Herrin 82 and Salem 55.

Kaitlyn Deters and Lauren Hemmen took second at the No. 2 doubles with 35 points while Allison Apke and Claire Hemmen finished second in the No. 3 doubles with 26 points. Audra Breer and Christa Schinke finished third at the No. 1 doubles spot with 24 points.

"The girls did a super job considering that we could not field a fourth doubles team and therefore had to forfeit all those matches," said T-town Coach Kaye Kimpling. "Kaitlyn Deters and Lauren Hemmen missed winning their flight by only two games."

At Mount Vernon

Effingham St. Anthony competed in the Champaign Centennial Tennis Invitational Saturday.

Kelly Rentfrow and Claire Wortman picked up a victory at No. 2 doubles while Maryann Saba and Megan Hodge took a win at the No. 3 doubles.
