Bulldogs, Hearts, Shoes Claim Tennis Wins

Effingham St. Anthony blanked Flora 8-0 in tennis competition Monday evening.

Frank Jansen went three sets before claiming a 6-1, 7-5, 6-3 win. Scott Rentfrow won 6-1, 6-3 and Alec Niebrugge took a 6-1, 6-0 win. Jay Niebrugge and Chris Jones were 6-0, 6-0 winners.

In doubles, Jay Niebrugge and Rentfrow won at No. 1, 7-5, 6-3. Jeff Niebrugge and Ian Harris won 6-2, 6-4. Tommy Schottman and Luke Jansen were 6-3, 6-2 winners.

The Bulldogs are now 11-1 on the season and travel to Decatur St. Teresa today.

At St. Anthony

No. 1 -- Frank Jansen (SA) defeated Daniel Pieplow (F), 6-1, 7-5, 6-3

At Charleston

Charleston claimed two victories while Effingham took the rest for a 7-2 win to improve to a perfect 8-0 on the season.

Isaac Foreman took the No. 2 singles spot 6-3, 6-2 while Jared Minor won at No. 3 6-4, 6-4. Aaron Meyers went 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4. Parth Maheshwari took the No. 5 spot, 6-0, 6-2. Jason Wohltman blanked his opponent 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles, Foreman and J. Wohltman won 6-1, 7-6. Miner and Maheshwari won 6-0, 6-2. Drake Hill and Aaron Conley took No. 3, 1-6, 6-3, 6-3. EHS is back in action at Newton today.

At Charleston

Teutopolis now sports a 9-2 record after blanking Casey-Westfield 9-0 Monday.

Kyle Brumleve, Andy Mersman, Nick Pals, Trevor Lee, Jacob Mette and Nick Ruholl were easy winners in two sets in singles play.

Mersman and Pals won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles. Jay Funneman and Keith Weber took the No. 2 spot, 6-2, 6-1. Lee and Mette were 6-2, 6-0 winners at No. 3.
