St. Anthony, EHS Nab 8-1 Tennis Victories

St. Anthony High School only suffered one loss in an 8-1 tennis victory over Charleston Tuesday.

The Bulldogs nabbed the top three singles spots as Frank Jansen won 6-4, 7-6 (7-1), Scott Rentfrow claimed the victory 6-0, 6-2 and Jay Niebrugge won 6-0, 6-1. Chris Jones took the No. 5 position 6-1, 6-2 and Jeff Niebrugge won at No. 6, 6-1, 6-3.

In doubles, Rentfrow and Ja. Niebrugge went 6-1, 6-0. Benton Hakman and Jones claimed a 6-2, 7-6 victory. Ian Harris and Je. Niebrugge won 6-4, 6-0.

The Bulldogs are now 5-0 on the season and back in action Thursday hosting Mattoon.

At St. Anthony

Harris-Hakman (SA) defeated Gubbins-Gzapcki (C), 8-4; Andy Saba-Donovan Hammer (SA) defeated Ostordya-Esarey (C), 8-3; Saba-Hammer (SA) defeated Miller-Jackson (SA), 8-4

 

At Casey

Effingham traveled to Casey-Westfield and downed the Warriors 8-1 to improve to 4-0 on the season.

The Hearts picked up five of six singles wins. Isaac Foreman and Parth Maheshwari blanked their opponents 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 and No. 5. Jared Minor won 6-1, 6-3 while Aaron Meyers was a 6-2, 6-0 winner. Jason Wohltman finished out at No. 6, 6-0, 6-2.

Minor and J. Wohltman won at No. 1 doubles, 6-0, 6-3.; Foreman and Maheshwari took the No. 2 spot, 6-0, 6-0. Meyers and Wyatt Wohltman were winners at No. 3, 6-1, 6-4.
