Class A Cumberland Regional

Effingham St. Anthony/Sacred Heart jumped out to an early lead and went on to down Paris Crestwood 16-10 in the Class A Cumberland Softball Regional Wednesday.

St. A/SH opened with a 4-1 first inning lead and tacked on four more in the second. They were never headed again and tallied six more in the seventh.

Jessica Coffin picked up the pitching win.

In the second game, Oblong blanked Red Hill (Bridgeport) 9-0.

St. Anthony will now face Casey-Westfield at 10 a.m. Saturday while Oblong takes on Cumberland at 11:45 a.m. The winners of this contest will square off for the championship at Toledo American Legion Field Monday at 4:30 p.m.

Class AA Sullivan Regional

Despite the fact Shelbyville Moulton took the early lead, Teutopolis came back for a 9-3 win in opening round play at the Class AA Sullivan Regional.

The Shoes trailed 3-2 after three innings then tallied three runs in the fourth and four more in the sixth. Julia Schmid had two singles and an RBI while Lauren Hemmen and Kara Weichman a double each. Emma Beckman picked up the six-hit pitching win.

T-town is now 6-12 and advances to face Mattoon at 10 a.m. Saturday. The second game Saturday features Effingham against Sullivan at 11:30.

Class 1A Ramsey Regional

Altamont blasted Ramsey 16-1 in three innings via the 15-run rule. Altamont took an 8-1 opening inning lead and never looked back.

Leah Mayhaus had a triple while Ashley Goeckner had a double and an RBI. Hannah Wolff knocked in three runs and had a single. Shelbi Stone picked up the pitching win, going three innings, allowing one hit, one walk and striking out six.

Altamont faces either Windsor or Beecher City at noon Saturday. In the opener, Findlay Okaw Valley blasted St. Elmo/Brownstown 16-4. Findlay Okaw Valley faces Mulberry Grove Saturday at 10 a.m.

Class AA Charleston Regional

Paris Mayo handed Lawrenceville Parkview a 17-2 loss in AA regional action. Paris Mayo now advances to face host Charleston at 10 a.m. Saturday.

In the second game Saturday, Jasper County (Newton) takes on Tolono Unity at 11:30 a.m. The winners advance to the title contest Monday at 4:30 p.m.
