Effingham St. Anthony and Altamont were both winners in junior high school softball action Thursday evening by 18-1 counts.

In the Bullpups contest, St. Anthony held a 4-0 first inning lead then had a 14-run second inning. K. Kabbes pitched the no-hitter over Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick.

M. Mills had three singles while A. Day had a single, double and four RBI, D. Having two singles and two RBI and E. Day a single, double and three RBI.

Altamont took a 9-1 first inning lead and went on for an 18-1 win in three innings. Tinley Mette picked up the pitching win to improve to 2-2 on a one-hitter.

Mette had a single, home run and four RBI while Hanna Wolff had a single, double and four RBI and Marlee Nolen two singles and an RBI. Altamont is now 2-0 in the National Trail Conference, 7-6 overall.

At Effingham

Casey-Westfield came calling and took a 1-0 first inning lead and went on for a 4-0 win over the Mustangs.

"We put the ball in play tonight but could not see to hit in the gaps as Casey-Westfield did," said EJHS Coach Megan Whitacre. "Armstrong pitched a strong game with six strikeouts and no walks. Kinkelaar and Kuhlman were the lone hits for us."

Effingham continues its busy schedule with a game at Altamont today and at Teutopolis Saturday.
