BEECHER CITY -- Effingham Junior High School blanked Beecher City/Cowden-Herrick 18-0 in three innings of softball action Monday evening.
The Mustangs took a 1-0 first inning lead then had a 13-run second. Effingham had 12 hits in the contest led by Miranda Fox with three singles, a double and three RBI and Chloe Funneman and Abbi Burgess with two singles each. Funneman had three RBI while Burgess had two.
Fox and Douthit combined to pitch the no-hitter. Fox went two innings, allowing no hits on one walk and three strikeouts. Douthit went one inning with one walk and three strikeouts.

Altamont 23, Shelbyville 22
Altamont trailed Shelbyville 10-4 after three innings and 12-9 after five innings then had a 10-run sixth and a four-run seventh to pull out the victory.
"This game ended on a double play with the bases loaded or we might still be playing," said Altamont Coach Doug Winters.
Altamont had 15 hits in the contest led by Morgan Phillips with three singles and five RBI, Leah Mayhaus with a single, double and an rBI and Carly McHugh with a single, doubel and three RBI. Katie Grimsley, Shelbi Stone and Hannah Wolff had two singles each.
Altamont improves to 3-3 on the season.
