Effingham Beats T-town, Mattoon Blanks St. Anthony/Sacred Heart In Junior High Softball

Effingham Junior High School handed Teutopolis an 11-3 loss in softball play Thursday.

Effingham edged out to a 2-1 first inning lead then had a three-run second and scored in every inning but the fifth.

Aly Armstrong had a single, double and an RBI for the winners while Vanessa Ramos had two singles, a double and two RBI. Ashlyn Hanks contributed three singles and an RBI.

Armstrong picked up the pitching win with nine strikeouts and five walks.

At Mattoon

St. Anthony/Sacred Heart fell to Mattoon 6-0 in girls junior high school softball action Thursday evening.

Mattoon took a 2-0 lead in the second inning and finished out with the six-run win behind nine hits. St. Anthony committed five errors.

The Bullpups were led in hitting by Marci Mills with two doubles.
