Effingham Junior High School captured a doubleheader victory over Cumberland Saturday.

Aubrey Poe threw a perfect game as the Mustangs blanked Cumberland 12-0 in four innings.

Poe went the four innings, not giving up a hit or walk while striking out three.

Meanwhile, the Mustangs had 11 hits led by Poe with a double and an RBI, Molly Maxedon with two singles and three RBI, Keagan Koenig and Madi Summers with two singles and two RBI each. Elizabeth Kreke with two singles and Addi Barnes with a single and two RBI.

In the second contest, Effingham was a 14-4 winner in six innings.

This time around the Mustangs banged out 14 hits, half of those doubles. Summers had a single, two doubles and two RBI while Koenig had two doubles and three RBI. Barnes added a single, double and two RBI and Poe and Olivia Koester  a single, double and three RBI each.

Kreke was the winning pitcher, going three innings, allowing four runs on four hits, two walks and striking out four. Poe came on to throw the last three innings, allowing no runs on four hits, no walks and striking out one.

At St. Anthony

Paris Crestwood came calling and knocked out 13 hits while holding St. Anthony to one Saturday for a 12-0 victory.

The Bullpups had only one hit, a single by Emeline Wines. St. Anthony committed four errors.

Crestwood's L. Stevens threw the one-hitter allowing one walk while striking out seven.

At Altamont

Altamont put together a 15-0 victory over Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City in five innings Friday.

Altamont held a 5-0 opening inning lead and never looked back.

Sophie Long threw a two-hitter with one walk while striking out a whopping 15 batters. She also was the offensive leader on the day with a double, triple, home run and five RBI.

Altamont finished with at total of 15 hits. Haley Arend and Adilyn Schnarre had three singles each. Schanarre added an RBI. Alyson Alwardt added two singles and two RBI while Jocelyn Pearcy added a single and three RBI, Teegan Burrus a double and two RBI. Payton Ort finished with a single and an RBI.

CHBC's singles were by Brylie Prater and Carissa Wakefield.

Dieterich had 13 hits led b Kensi Stortzum with a single, two triples and an RBI, Mariah Muhs with two singles, a triple and two RBI, Aliza Garner with a single ,triple and an RBI, Allison Boerngen with a double, Lydia Wohltman added two singles and an RBI and Layla Flach a single and three RBI.

Neoga and Cumberland were tied at 1-1 through the first three innings and 2-2 in the fourth. Cumberland moved ahead with four in the fifth but Neoga came back to tie the score with four in the sixth. The score was knotted 8-8 after six innings. Neoga finally won with three runs in the seventh.

Neoga had nine hits in the game led by Madelynn Frankie with three hits and an RBI and Lillian Denson with two hits and an RBI. Reyna Coy and Emma Ree had one hit each. Coy had two RBI and Ree one.

Neoga improved to 7-2.

Cumberland was led by Baya Carter with two singles, a home run and three RBI, Kinley McMechan a double and triple and Lauren Schnepper with a single, double and two RBI.

At Toledo

Jasper County edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead and captured a 6-4 win over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg.

Jasper County had eight hits in the game led by Paige Wagner and Maleah Miller with a single and double each. Wagner added an RBI. Georgia Reich had two singles and an RBI. Emma Brooks added a single and two RBI

Lexie Ghast threw a seven-hitter with one walk and six strikeouts.

Windsor/Stew-Stras had seven hits led by Edie Wittenberg with two singles and two RBI, Kalia Friese with a double and Kinsley Dunaway with a triple and an RBI.

The Wooden Shoes trounced Taylorville, 17-1.

T-town then fell to Sullivan, 14-8.
