TEUTOPOLIS -- Teutopolis put together 11 hits and finished with a 5-1 victory over Effingham in a high school softball game heard on KJ Country 102.3 Monday.

The two teams played to a 1-1 opening inning tie. The Shoes then moved ahead with a two run second and tacked on two more runs in the fourth.

The Shoes banged out 11 hits in the contest led by Erin Althoff with a single and double, Malea Helmink with two singles and an RBI and Kaylee Niebrugge with a single and two RBI. Summer Wall had two singles and Emily Konkel had a single and an RBI.

Courtney Gibson went the distance on the mound, allowing one run on four hits, two walks and five strikeouts.

Effingham's four hits were singles by Raegan Boone, Sidney Donaldson, Kristen Armstrong and Bria Beals. Riley Cunninghm had an RBI.

At Effingham

Effingham St. Anthony played host to Dieterich and sent the Movin' Maroons home with a 12-1 loss in five innings Monday.

The Bulldogs' Addie Wernsing started the contest on the mound, allowing one run on one hit and five strikeouts. She went four innings before Sydney Kibler came on to throw the final inning, allowing one hit and striking out one.

The Bulldogs were led in hitting by Cameran Rios and Kibler with a single and double each. Kibler added an RBI. Lucy Fearday and Ady Rios had a double each while Fearday had an RBI. Hailey Niebrugge had a single, double and an RBI. Abbie Hatton had three singles and two RBI and Stacie Vonderheide had a single and an RBI.

Dieterich was led by Callie Faller with a single and an RBI and Eva Meinhart with a single.

At Strasburg

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg blanked Brownstown/St. Elmo by a 15-0 count in four innings Monday.

The Hatchets stepped out to a 9-0 first inning lead then tallied three runs in the second and third innings.

Sam Hayes and Claire Holland combined to pitch a one-hitter. Hayes went three innings, not allowing a hit, walking one and striking out three. Holland came on for the final inning, allowing one hit.

Kaylyn Carey had a double, triple and drove in two runs for the Hatchets. Hayes had a single, triple and an RBI while Sam Porter had a double and an RBI. Cameron Carey had two singles and five RBI, Ella Kinkelaar two singles and an RBI and Katelyn VonBehrens two singles.

BSE's lone hit was a single by Leeland.

At Strasburg

At Odin

South Central edged Odin Co-op by a 6-4 count Monday.

Odin took a 2-0 first inning lead and held that until the third when the Cougars tallied a run. But Odin came back to match that run in the fifth to lead 3-1. However, the Cougars went on a five-run sixth and finished out with the victory.

Jaylyn Michel drove in four runs and had a single and double. Brooklyn Garrett had a solo homer, Kyra Swift a triple and Taegan Webster a double.

Webster went the distance on the mound, allowing five hits, three walks and striking out seven.

South Central improves to 17-5 on the season and returns to action Wednesday against Centralia Christ Our Rock Lutheran.

At Odin

Richland County took a 1-0 lead in the second inning and held that until the fourth when Newton tied the score then moved ahead in the fifth for good and a 4-2 win Monday.

The Eagles led 2-1 and tallied two more in the sixth. Richland County had a final run in the seventh.

Camryn Martin led the way in hitting with two singles and an RBI. Addy O'Dell, Kayla Kocher and Lilly Kessler had a single and an RBI each.

Kocher allowed two runs on four hits, one walk and struck out six to pick up the pitching victory.

At Newton

Oblong//Palestine/Hutsonville came calling and picked up an 8-1 victory over Clay City/North Clay Monday.

CC/NC edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead and held that through three innings before O/P/H moved ahead 2-1 in the fourth. O/P/H then had a five-run fifth.

Clay City/North Clay outhit O/P/H by an 8-2 count. Morgan Hance had a single and double while Gracie Marshoff had a single and an RBI.

Hance suffered the loss on the mound, going seven imnings, allowing two hits, eight runs, six earned, seven walks and striking out 12.

Clay City/North Clay is now 5-5 on the season and returns to action Thursday at Woodlawn.

Pawnee tallied a 13-2 victory over Altamont in six innings Monday.

The two teams played to a 2-2 opening inning tie before Pawnee broke loose with a five-run third, tacked on a run in the fifth and five more in the sixth.

Altamont had two hits, a double by Kylie Osteen and a single by Claire Boehm.
