Bulldogs, Cougars Win In Area Softball

Effingham St .Anthony stepped out to a 6-0 first inning lead and went on to beat Robinson by a 13-2 count in five softball innings Wednesday.

The Bulldogs cranked out 15 hits in the contest. Hailey Niebrugge had a single, double, home run and two RBI while Addie Wernsing had two singles, a double and three RBI. Anna Faber added two doubles and an RBI while Abbie Hatton and Stacie Vonderheide had a double each. Hatton added two RBI. Ady Rios added two singles.

Lucy Fearday went the five innings on the mound allowing two runs on five hits, one walk and striking out five.

St. Anthony finished out with two runs in the fourth and five in the fifth.

At Ramsey

South Central pounded out 17 hits and brought home 17 runs in a 17-1 victory over Ramsey in four innings Wednesday.

The Cougars edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead then tallied six in the second, eight in the third and two in the fourth.

Taegan Webster had a double, home run and four RBI.Jaylyn Michel had two singles, a double and four RBI. Abi Shuler had two doubles and an RBI, Kinlee Thompson and Brooklyn Garrett a single, double and two RBI each, Kyra Swift a single, double and an RBI and Kaitlyn Swift a double.

Ella Watwood threw a three-hitter for the win on the mound.

South Central is now 13-5 on the season and returns to action today at Vandalia.

At Strasburg

Charleston tallied 10 hits and 10 runs in a 10-3 victory over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg Wednesday.

The two teams played to a 0-0 tie through four innings. Windsor/Stew-Stras then took a 3-0 lead in the fifth.

Charleston came back with two in the sixth and tied the contest in the seventh, sending the game into extra innings.

The Trojans then broke loose with seven runs in the eighth for the victory.

Windsor/Stew-Stras had seven hits in the game but committed six errors. Leading the Hatchets were Ella Kinkelaar with a double, triple and two RBI and Ava Richards with a single and an RBI.

Leading the Trojans were Erin Blair with a single, double and two RBI and Blair Ritchey with  two singles and an RBI.
