Sullivan Hands Windsor/Stew-Stras Softball Loss

In the lone area high school softball game to be played Wednesday, Sullivan captured a 10-6 win over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg.

The Hatchets edged out to a 2-0 first inning lead but Sullivan tied in the top of the second. Sullivan moved ahead 3-2 in the top of the fourth but Windsor/Stew-Stras came roaring back with four runs in the bottom of the frame to lead 6-3.

Here came Sullivan, this time with four runs in the top of the fifth to lead 7-6 and then finished out with three in the sixth for the winning margin.

Both teams had nine hits in the contest. Ava Richards knocked out a home run and had two RBI for the Hatchets while Sam Hayes had three singles and two RBI, Sam Porter a single and double and Katelyn VonBehrens a single and two RBI.

Hayes suffered the loss on the mound, going all seven innings, allowing 10 runs on nine hits, two walks while striking out six.
