Effingham St. Anthony banged out 15 hits and blanked Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 18-0 in four innings of high school softball action Monday.

The Bulldogs opened with a 10-0 first inning lead then tacked on three in the second and five in the third.

Lucy Fearday went the first two innings on the mound for the win. She did not allow a hit or walk and struck out three.

Addie Wernsing had a single, triple and drove in four runs while Laney Coffin had a double and four RBI. Kallie Kabbes and Anna Faber hit a double and drove in three runs each. Cameran Rios and Ady Rios had two singles and an RBI each. Sydney Kibler had a single and two RBI.

CHBC had two hits, singles by Birgen Schlanser and MaKenna Roley.

At St. Anthony

At Newton

Newton got the jump on Effingham and went on to down the Hearts 8-3 Monday.

The Eagles stepped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning. The Hearts came back to pull within 3-2 in the top of the fourth. But Newton scored four in the bottom of the frame to lead 7-2. Both teams tallied a run in the sixth.

Camryn Martin had a triple and an RBI while Kayla Kocher had a triple. Amelia Collins banged out two singles and an RBI and Allie Stanley had a single and two RBI.

Kocher went five innings on the mound, allowing two runs on one hit, two walks while striking out seven.

EHS had only four hits. Riley Cunningham had a double and an RBI while Abby Cunningham added a single and an RBI.

At Newton

At Kinmundy

Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg edged South Central as two National Trail Conference teams met Monday.

The two teams didn't score through the first three innings. The Hatchets moved into a 1-0 lead in the fourth. South Central came back to move ahead 2-1 in the fifth.

Windsor/Stew-Stras then tallied two runs in the sixth for the 3-2 lead and the win.

Sam Hayes threw all seven innings, allowing two runs on seven hits, six walks and seven strikeouts.

Hayes had a double and drove in a run offensively while Ava Richards had two singles and an RBI and Ella Kinkelaar two singles.

South Central was led by Jaylyn Michel and Brooklyn Garrett with a single and an RBI each. The Cougars outhit WSS by a 7-4 count.

The Cougars drop to 0-2 in the National Trail Conference, 3-2 overall and are back in action today at Altamont.

At Kinmundy

Teutopolis played host to Casey-Westfield and fell to the Warriors by a 10-4 count Monday.

Casey-Westfield tallied four runs to move ahead in the second then tacked on three in the fourth, one in the sixth and two in the seventh.

The Warriors had 14 hits led by Megan Cribelar with a single, two doubles and three RBI, Maya Redman with three singles and three RBI, Paige Cutright with two singles and an RBI and Kam Smith with a double and an RBI.

The Wooden Shoes had five hits led by Malea Helmink with a triple and an RBI and Kaylee Niebrugge and Jordan Goeckner with a single and an RBI each.

Cutright threw all seven innings, allowing four runs on five hits, no walks while striking out nine.

At Teutopolis

Flora took the early lead and went on for a 16-3 victory over Dieterich in five innings Monday.

The Wolves edged out to a 2-1 opening inning lead then had a five-run third and a nine-run fourth.

Flora finished with 14 hits in the contest and was aided by six Dieterich errors.

Dieterich had five hits led by Lucie Jansen with a double and Brittney Niemerg with a single and an RBI. Estella Meinhart and Allie Uthell had an RBI each.

Flora's A. Cammon went the five innings allowing three runs on five hits, two walks while striking out nine.
