Altamont took the early lead and went on to beat St. Elmo/Brownstown, 13-3 in five innings in the Class 2A Teutopolis Softball Regional Wednesday.

 

The winners had a 13-hit attack led by Cecilia Pearcy with two singles, a home run and one RBI and Kennedi Schultz with a single, home run and four RBI. Ada Roberts had three singles while Laila Hankins and Justyce Higgs had two singles and two RBI each.

Sophie Long went five innings allowing three runs on four hits, one walk while striking out 11.

St. Elmo/Brownstown was led by D. Haslett with two singles and an RBI.

In the other contest, Lawrenceville Parkview blanked Red Hill (Bridgeport), 10-0.

Altamont will take on second-seeded Teutopolis at 10 a.m. Saturday while Lawrenceville Parkview faces Jasper County at noon. The winners will advance to the championship game at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Class 1A Effingham St. Anthony Regional

North Clay/Clay City and Ramsey were opening round winners in the St. Anthony Regional Wednesday.

North Clay/Clay City defeated Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 12-7 while Ramsey blanked Mulberry Grove, 15-0.

NC/CC trailed CHBC 2-0 until the bottom of the third then scored six runs and never looked back in a 12-7 victory.

North Clay/Clay City had nine hits led by Snell with a triple and an RBI and Ruesken and Pontious with two singles each. Ruesken had four RBI and Pontious one.

CHBC was led by Brynlie Pope with two singles and a triple and Brylie Prater and Keaira Arnold with two singles and an RBI each. Jayla Arnett had a single and drove in a run.

North Clay/Clay City improved to 5-11 on the season and will meet South Central at 10 a.m. Saturday while Ramsey faces Effingham St. Anthony at 11:30. The winners advance to the championship game Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Cass 2A Casey-Westfield Regional

Arthur and Marshall both tallied 11 runs in taking victories in the Class 2A Casey-Westfield Regional Wednesday.

Arthur edged Cumberland, 11-9 and will now face host Casey-Westfield at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Marshall blanked Sullivan, 11-0 and will take on Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg at noon Saturday.

The winners will advance to the championship game Tuesday.

 

Class 3A Charleston Regional

Monticello edged Robisnon Nuttall, 4-3 in Wednesday action.

Monticello will face Charleston at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Tolono Unity was an 11-1 winner over Mattoon. Unity will now meet Effingham at 11:45 a.m.

The winners advance to the regional championship Tuesday.

 

Class 1A Hutsonville Regional

No scores were reported on the Hutsonville Regional.

Games included Neoga against Oblong and Sigel St. Michael against Martinsville.
