T-town, CHBC, Neoga Win In Softball Regional Openers

The Wooden Shoes edged out to a 1-0 first inning lead and led 2-0 after three. T-town then tacked on four in the fifth and three more int he sixth.
Courtney Gibson threw a three-hitter with three walks and eight strikeouts.
Daisha Piedra had a big game offensively. Piedra had two singles, a double, triple and four RBI while Kaylee Niebrugge had two singles, a double and three RBI. Erin Althoff added two doubles and Emily Konkel two singles and an RBI.
In the other contest, Sullivan was a 10-8 winner over Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond.
T-town is back in action today against Westville at 6 p.m. Sullivan will open the evening against Tolono Unity at 4:30 p.m.

Class 1A South Central Regional
Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City tallied a 14-5 win over St. Elmo/Brownstown in the South Central Regional Monday.
SEB held a 3-2 opening inning lead and led 5-4 after three. But CHBC broke loose with a four-run fourth and a six-run fifth.
CHBC banged out 18 hits in the contest led by Macee Rodman with a single, double, triple and three RBI, Ruby Stuckemeyer with three singles and three RBI, Addison Wasson with a single, double and three RBI, Birgen Schlanser with three singles and two RBI, Madison Wojcik and Karlee Smith with two singles each and Kylie Doty with a single and an RBI.
SEB was led by Olivia Baker with two singles and an RBI, Addy Putnam with two singles and Kairi Speagle with a single and an RBI.
Summers was the winning pitcher for CHBC going all seven innings allowing five runs on seven hits, two walks and 12 strikeouts.
CHBC advances to face No. 2 South Central at 4:30 p.m. today.

Class 1A Cumberland Regional
Neoga edged Bethany Okaw Valley by a 9-8 count in the Cumberland Regional opener Monday.
Neoga advances to face No. 1 Casey-Westfield at 4:30 p.m. today.
Class 1A Oblong Regional
Oblong edged Martinsville in the first game of the Oblong Regional Monday.
Oblong will now face No. 2 seeded Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg at 4:30 p.m. today The second game will have Dieterich taking on Hutsonville/Palestine at 6:30 p.m.
Class 2A St. Joseph-Ogden Regional
Marshall pounded Fithian Oakwood by a 17-2 count to win the opener in this regional.
Marshall advances to face No. 1 seeded Effingham St. Anthony today at 4:30 p.m. The second contest today features No. 3 St. Joseph-Ogden against No. 7 Paris at 6:30.
Class 2A Vandalia Regional
Vandalia nabbed a win in its own regional Monday. The Vandals downed Hillsboro by an 11-3 count.
In the second contest, Greenville blanked Litchfield 10-0.
Vandalia advances to face No. 2 Newton at 4:30 p.m. today. Greenville will meet No. 3 Staunton Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.
