At Mattoon

Errors proved to be the downfall of the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes in a 5-1 loss to host Mattoon.

"We scored our one run in the fourth of an RBI single by Tara Stephens," said T-town Coach Rich Niebrugge. "This was a real close game until we made two errors and a few other mistakes that do not count as errors, but really have about the same effect, all in the sixth inning."

The score was knotted at 1-1 until the sixth when the Green Wave brought home four runs on two T-town errors and a misplayed popup.

"Kadi Borries threw a real nice game for us," said Niebrugge. "We had a lot of good things happen for us. We just can't allow that one bad inning when you're playing a topnotch team like Mattoon."

Mattoon improved to 15-2 while T-town dropped to 12-4.
