Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg edged Charleston 4-3 in junior high softball action Tuesday.

The two teams scored a single run in the first inning. WSS took a 2-1 lead in the third and Charleston tied in the fourth. WSS moved ahead 3-2 in the sixth when Kinley Quast launched the first pitch over the fence.

 Charleston came right back in the seventh to knot the score at 3-3. The game went into the eighth and WSS tallied the winning run.

WSS had 12 hits led by Quast with two singles, a home run and three RBI and Alaira Friese and Samantha Hayes with two singles each. Katelyn VonBehrens drove in a run with a single.

Quast hit her home run over the fence at the softball field that the Charleston High School girls play on. Hayes ran her pitching record to 11-2 with 12 complete games. She had 140 strikeouts while only walking 14 batters all season.

WSS two first year coaches, head coach Lindsay Floyd and assistant coach Bailey Leasher, guided the team to an 11-2 record and a 2A regional championship.
