Jasper County came from behind to edge Effingham, 7-5 in softball competition Tuesday.

The Mustangs took a 1-0 opening inning lead and pushed that to 4-0 in the second. Jasper County scored one in the third and fourth but Effingham came back to lead 5-2 in the bottom of the fourth. Jasper County scored two in the fifth to pull within 5-4 then scored three runs in the top of the seventh for the win.

Mulvey led the way for the winners with two doubles and three RBI while Collin had two singles and a double and Fritchl a double.

Effingham was led by Beals with a triple, Donaldson with a double and an RBI, Bierman with two singles and an RBI and Althoff with two singles.

At Kinmundy

Centralia outlasted South Central, 16-10 in girls softball competition Tuesday.

South Central held a 4-2 lead in the second inning and led 8-4 after four. Centralia tied in the top of the fifth then scored six runs in the sixth.

South Central had 12 hits led by Reid with a single, triple and an RBI, Montes with three singles and three RBI, Rose with a single, double and three RBI, Ky. Swift with two singles and Watwood with a triple and an RBI.

South Central dropped to 7-4 on the season.
