Effingham Junior High School claimed two victories over Teutopolis in softball competition Saturday.

The Mustangs won the opener 8-2 behind 11 hits. Effingham broke a 1-1 tie with a run in the third then added on two in the fourth, one in the fifth and three in the sixth.

Effingham had 11 hits in the game while the Mustangs' Saige Althoff held T-town to two hits, allowing one walk and striking out 12. Sidney Donaldson had a double and triple for the Mustangs while Kristen Armstrong had two doubles and an RBI, Abi Middendorf two singles and three RBI and Althoff a triple and an RBI

In the second game, Effingham won 10-1. The Mustangs' Bria Beals went six innings allowing one run on one hit, two walks and nine strikeouts.

Donaldson had two singles, a double, triple and three RBI while Althoff added two singles and an RBI.

T-town had one hit by M. Bloemer with a single.

At Cowden

A Wasson and M. Rodman combined to throw a no-hitter as Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City claimed a 13-0 win over St. Elmo/Brownstown in five innings Friday.

CHBC took a 4-0 opening inning lead, then tacked on six in the second, two in the third and one in the fourth. CHBC had 10 hits in the contest led by Macee Rodman with a single, home run and two RBI. Birgen Schlanser, Ellie Miller and Haley Doty had two singles each. Schlanser had two RBI while Doty had one.

At Cowden

At Kinmundy

Dieterich claimed a National Trail Conference win over South Central in Saturday competition.

Dieterich stepped out to a 2-0 opening inning lead and never looked back in a 6-1 victory.

Dieterich had 14 hits led by C. Faller with a single, double and an RBI, L. Jansen with a triple and two RBI, B. Niemerg with three singles and E. Meinhart, F. Verdeyen and K. Will with two singles each. Meinhart added an RBI.

B. Niemerg picked up the pitching win on a four-hitter with one walk and 11 strikeouts.

In the nonconference contest, South Central edged Dieterich, 14-13. South Central held a 8-3 lead after three innings but Dieterich came back to tie the score with six runs in the top of the seventh. South Central then won in the bottom of the seventh.
