Makayla Walsh has been named the new Effingham St. Anthony High School girls head varsity softball coach.

Coach Walsh is a native of Effingham, and is a 2014 graduate. She continued her academic and athletic career at Parkland College for two years and then went on to the University of Illinois at Springfield. She graduated with a B.S in Communications from the University of Illinois.

She has a great deal of player development experience. Walsh was an assistant coach for the varsity softball team for the 2018 softball season and head coach at the junior high this past fall.

“I am grateful and honored to be head coach at my alma mater," said Walsh. " I hope to build this softball program into something people will remember for a long time, instill a winning culture, and mold girls into great individuals. I’m so proud to be a part of the Effingham Community, whose support and energy for sports is unbelievable. Most importantly I’m excited to get to work with my team this upcoming season.”
