Mount Zion High School finished third at the Class 3A State Girls Softball Tournament during the weekend.

In Friday action, the Braves fell to Sycamore, 12-11 and Wheaton St. Francis beat Kankakee McNamara, 6-2.

In Saturday play, Mount Zion captured third place game over Kankakee McNamara, 4-2. Sycamore claimed the state championship with a 3-0 win over St. Francis.

In Class 4A, St. Charles North beat Chicago St. Rita 6-2 and Edwardsville blanked Hampshire 2-0 in Friday play.

In the Saturday finals, Edwardsville won the state title by edging Charles North 3-2. Third place went to Chicago St. Rita with a 3-2 win over Hampshire.
