Effingham Downs Springfield SHG In Softball

Effingham High School played host to Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin and captured an 11-6 victory in regular season softball ation Friday.

The Hearts stepped out to a 4-0 first inning lead but Sacred Heart-Grffin came back to lead 6-4 in the top of the second. EHS tied in the bottom of the frame and then tallied three in the fourth and two in the fifth.

EHS had 11 hits and was aided by five Sacred Heart-Griffin errors. Leading the way for the Hearts were Emma Hardiek with two singles, a double and five RBI while Emma Budde had three singles. Carsyn Fearday contributed two singles and two RBI and Jaidi Davis had a double and an RBI.

Davis was the winning pitcher on a six-hitter with two walks and nine strikeouts.
